RAS Announces Issuance of US Patent for CorePro Technology

Rebuilders Automotive Supply Announces Issuance of US Patent for CorePro Technology

Coventry, RI – September 1, 2010 Rebuilders Automotive Supply (RAS), a global core supplier focused on web-based core sourcing and fulfillment systems for the automotive recycling industry, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued US Patent 7,680,706, covering its automotive core fulfillment system.

This proprietary, web-based technology, marketed under the RASʼ CorePro brand, enables auto recyclers to identify valuable core parts on vehicles in their inventory that have value, generate pick lists for dismantlers and automatically generate a RAS invoice for payment.

“We are proud to announce this patent award, which adds confirmation to RASʼ leadership in developing automotive core technology for an ever-evolving industry,” said Jack Bowser, RASʼ CEO. “With an interchange database of over 75 thousand parts, and an interface which provides recyclers easy access to core demand and pricing information, the CorePro system is a cutting-edge and critical tool that facilitates the growing global core supply chain.”

CorePro enables auto recyclers to maximize core surplus revenue and reduce salvage yard labor costs by streamlining the dismantling and inventory processes. RAS currently has over 350 yards fully utilizing the CorePro system, and is seeking to activate another 350 yards by year end. CorePro is available at no cost to recyclers.

Patent Abstract/Description

“A system and method for facilitating acquisition of automotive core parts from automotive recyclers for remanufacture includes identifying automotive cores and determining the value of the cores with a core fulfillment system. The core fulfillment system includes an interchange database with automotive core descriptions and corresponding interchange identification indicators. The system includes a core supplier database that includes automotive core descriptions with corresponding core supplier identification indicators and an interchange number matching module that equates database entries in the interchange database with database entries in the core supplier database.

An interface module provides access to the core fulfillment system, accepts vehicle information, and provides demand and pricing information regarding automotive cores. Vehicle information is received and compared to automotive core descriptions, automotive interchange numbers, and core supplier identification indicators that correspond to the vehicle identification information. Automotive cores are identified based upon the comparison, and a core value is determined.”
